A Christmas Carol at Carnegie Hall

FOR GRADES 7 – 12 ONLY.

This staged reading is a musical version of A Christmas Carol that recounts the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, an elderly miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future. In the process, Scrooge is transformed into a kinder, gentler man.

In celebration of Open Arts Alliances’s 10th Anniversary, as we remember the past, enjoy the present and look to the future, this special opportunity at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall is a collaborative project between OAA alumni, current students, and professionals. Through auditions, a limited number of actors will be offered roles, and these select students will be invited to register for this exciting opportunity.

Submission deadline is August 12.

What is an audition?

Auditions are a chance for our students (new and veterans) to share their skills with our production team! THIS IS A VIRTUAL AUDITION. Each student should submit a 1-minute video recording of them singing a classic musical theatre song. Each student must slate at the beginning of their submission by including their name, age, voice type and what they will be singing.

Who can audition for A Christmas Carol?

Students in grades 7 – 12. Each student needs to submit an audition video. Submission deadline is August 12.

I have submitted an audition video. Does this mean my child is in the cast?

What is “A Christmas Carol” about?

This staged concert is a new musical version of Charles Dickens’ beloved novella featuring holiday classic carols from the renaissance through the twentieth century. A Christmas Carol recounts the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, an elderly miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future. In the process, Scrooge is transformed into a kinder, gentler man. In celebration of Open Arts Alliances’s 10th Anniversary, as we remember the past, enjoy the present and look to the future, this special project features OAA alumni, current students, and professionals.

Can my child AUDITION for A Christmas Carol and also REGISTER for Frozen?

Yes. 7th grade students will be able to audition for an opportunity in A Christmas Carol as well as register to participate in Frozen.

What is the rehearsal schedule?
