FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What is “Beetlejuice” about?
Based on Tim Burton’s classic comedy film, Beetlejuice  was an audience favorite during it’s Broadway run and nominated for eight Tony awards, including Best Musical. Lydia Deetz is not your typical teenager. She is enchanted by all things haunted and supernatural. So when her father moves her into a brand new home, Lydia is delighted to discover her new house is haunted by a quirky, couple of ghosts named the Maitlands, and one notorious demon named… Beetlejuice!  Tim Burton’s masterpiece is brought “back from the dead” to hilarious results. This zany, madcap musical is “frightfully” hilarious and fun for the whole family, guaranteed to make you want to dance till “daylight come”.

What is the rehearsal schedule?

Where will the shows take place?
Performances will take place at the Powerhouse Theatre in Waveny Park (679 South Ave, New Canaan, CT 06840.)

Where will rehearsals take place?
Rehearsals will occur at Open Arts Alliance’s rehearsal space at Greenwich Arts Council (299 Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich)

When are the shows?
Performances will occur on March 20 (7:00 pm), March 21 (7:00 pm) & March 22 (11 am, 2 pm, 5 pm, 8 pm) with snow date on March 23.

If my child is offered a role, what is the fee?
The fee to participate in Beetlejuice is $1295

Are scholarships available?
OAA underwrites all participation fees at 60% of true program cost. Participation fees include costumes, set, theatre rental, royalties and rights for the production, as well as musician fees.

Financial Aid and Scholarships are available for families who can demonstrate financial need. Please contact us at Info@openartsalliance.com.

Where can I purchase tickets?
Box office information will be available shortly.

What is an audition?
Auditions are a chance for our students (new and veterans) to share their skills with our production team.

Who can audition?
Students ages 6-18 are encouraged to audition.

I have enrolled for auditions. Does this mean my child is in the cast?
Unfortunately, we are unable to cast every child that auditions due to the number of applicants. Registration is strictly to help organize the process of auditioning.

Will there be callbacks?
We reserve the right to have callbacks for actors we need to see/hear act, sing or dance again on Friday, December 6 at 6 pm.

How many casts do you anticipate?
We anticipate 1 casts with a few shared characters.

What should my child prepare?
Every child should prepare 16 bars of any song, to be sung acapella. This should be a song they are comfortable with.

Can my child sing a song from the show?
Yes.

Should my child know the songs and characters from the show?
This is not required, but can only help.
