Text
The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of World War II take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision. The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical! Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the title number, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars.

Auditions are a chance for our students (new and veterans) to share their skills with our production team! At Open Arts Alliance we do our best to keep the auditions fun, simple and ensure that every auditioner feels great about their accomplishment!
Students ages 6-18 are encouraged to audition for “The Sound Of Music” and “KC@Bat.”
Unfortunately, we are unable to cast every child that auditions due to the number of applicants. Enrollment is strictly to help organize the process of auditioning.
We reserve the right to have callbacks for actors we need to see/hear act, sing or dance again on Friday, December 15th, 2023 at 6 pm.
We anticipate 1-2 casts. Our effort is to ensure that students of different ages and levels are challenged artistically and enjoy the learning process.
Each child must sing a small section of any song they desire. This should be a song they are comfortable with. Anything from “Happy Birthday” to “Let It Go” is great by us! Auditioners should not expect to finish their song.
