Beetlejuice Jr. Auditions

This staged reading is a musical version of A Christmas Carol that recounts the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, an elderly miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future. In the process, Scrooge is transformed into a kinder, gentler man.

In celebration of Open Arts Alliances’s 10th Anniversary, as we remember the past, enjoy the present and look to the future, this special opportunity at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall is a collaborative project between OAA alumni, current students, and professionals. Through auditions, a limited number of actors will be offered roles, and these select students will be invited to register for this exciting opportunity.

A Christmas Carol at Carnegie Hall

Do you want to build a snowman? You’ll love this fanciful and heartwarming stage adaptation of the celebrated animated film. Join Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Sven, and all of your favorite characters as they embark on an epic, ice-filled journey of self-discovery, camaraderie, and the real meaning of true love. Adapted for young performers, this musical includes favorite Frozen songs such as “Love Is an Open Door,” “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?,” and “Let It Go,” as well as wonderful new songs from the Broadway production. This production is sure to prove that “some people are worth melting for.”

Auditions will be held at the first rehearsal. Students need not prepare a song in advance.

Every child registered in this program will receive a part ensuring each young actor has a chance to shine.

The delicious adventures of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale!  Follow the enigmatic candy manufacturer, Willy Wonka, along with his singing and dancing Oompa Loompas, as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Who will find those tickets and win a tour of the Wonka factory and lifetime supply of candy? The winning children must use their “Pure Imagination” and learn to follow Mr. Wonka’s rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences.

Fall down the rabbit hole with Alice as she navigates the curious world of Wonderland on a journey of self-discovery. When young Alice finds herself in a strange world where everything seems upside down, she must find her way home…and find herself along the way. As she travels through Wonderland, she encounters many iconic characters including the ever-tardy White Rabbit, the grinning Cheshire Cat, a cool Caterpillar, the wacky Mad Hatter, and the hot-tempered Queen of Hearts. Including “The Unbirthday Song” and many other favorites, Alice in Wonderland is timeless story of adventure, imagination, and pure fun!

Set in the East Village of New York City in the 1990s, Rent is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today. Loosely based on Puccin’s La Boheme, and Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, it has become a pop cultural phenomenon with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages.

Following “525,600 minutes” in the life of a found-family of struggling artists and musicians surviving in the shadows of the HIV/AIDS crisis, the young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves and conflicts in this groundbreaking musical about art and life. Spaces are limited, so don’t miss this “Seasons of Love”.

EDUCATIONAL NOTE: RENT: School Edition contains sensitive subject matter that may not be suitable for all students. Summerstage offers older students a chance to interact with material that tackles tough subjects to expand their understanding of the world while challenging their performance abilities.

Ernest Thayer’s beloved poem about fictional baseball legend Casey and the town of Mudville springs vividly to life in the present day. When young KC moves to Mudville with her father from New York City, she struggles to fit in at her new school. But through her love of baseball, KC whips the down-and-out little league team into shape, leading them to the championship game, where she learns that there are things even more important than winning.

Margret Lee (Lolly) is an actress and singer who is a recent graduate of NYU’s TISCH. She can be seen in Open Arts Alliance’s KC@BAT. Margaret shot FISSURES, The Report, BattleBox, Love Me Tender, It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue, and Stuck in Love. She has performed on stage in 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,Fame the Musical, Particular Snowflakes, and On the Waterfront. You can also see Margaret on Oxygen’s NEW YORK HOMICIDE. She speaks Cantonese, Chinese, Mandarin, and Korean. She is a dancer, singer, and plays the piano. She found her love for acting while participating in Musical Theater in Hong Kong as a child.
 
Courtney Anne Nelson (Ramona), a book-a-holic with a bangin’ bob, is an NYC-based actress. Born and raised in Cleveland OH, she is a graduate of Kent State University with a BFA in Musical Theater and a minor in Entrepreneurship. She has performed regionally across the country with Ocean City Theatre Company, Bay Area Children’s Theatre, Porthouse Theatre, Cleveland Playhouse, and Greenhouse Ensemble. Producing credits include 54 Below Sings TikTok and 54 Below Sings History 101. Alongside performing, Courtney teaches tap and obsessively watches the NFL. She recently ran the Brooklyn Half Marathon – woohoo! This summer Courtney will be performing in Legally Blonde at Milton Theatre. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical! Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the title number, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars.
